The SAP Symphony orchestra: cultural lighthouse of SAP SE

Depending on the cast of performed compositions, our 60 to 90 musicians are composed of SAP employees, their relatives and friends as well as other musicians of the Rhine-Main-Neckar region. We appear in regional and supra-regional concerts. In principle, all our concerts are designed as charity concerts, what means, the revenue of our concerts are entirely donated to charitable purposes. With our concerts we generate donations for “Kinderschutzbund” (Children Welfare Association), “Mehrgenerationenhaus” (Multi-generation House), “Stadtmission” (City Mission), Diakonie (Diakonia), “Lebenshilfe” (Life Help) and “Caritas” in the area of Heidelberg and Mannheim, Hospice „Agape” in Wiesloch-Walldorf, “World Childhood Foundation” and several others. We place special emphasis on enabling people of any social origin to attend our concerts and enjoy our music.

Our repertoire ist varied: classical sinfonic orchestral works besides unusual formats and world premieres of new music by contemporary composers; concerts with high-level soloists such as the tenor and World star Rolando Villazón or the exceptional cellist Johann Aparicio-Bohórquez. Film music and Symphonic Rock round our offer. According to our motto „Making the world sound better“ we always strive to guarantee our concertgoers sound experiences of exceptional quality.

Another focus is opera and music theatre: we have already performed many operas. We develop special versions to introduce children and young people to the world of opera. Our venues are including Heidelberg Stadthalle, Walldorf Astoria Halle, Mannheim Rosengarten, Schwetzingen Rococo Theatre and more popular concert halls and churches.

Demonstrating team spirit, vitality and high motivation we set an example for continuity and sustainability of the cultural commitment of the SAP.Thus, with precision, endurance and discipline, we achieve to create a large entity and in this way we embody the extraordinary corporate culture of SAP.

Listen today | join us tomorrow?

What’s up? Lonely in front of your screen? This doesn’t have to be! Take your instrument and come along with us to the land of classical symphonic orchestral music!

Listen today - join us tomorrow?
We are pleased about well trained, dedicated amateur musicians, who are interested in joining a dynamic orchestra, in preparing concert programs in inspiring, professional rehearsals, and inspire our audience with fresh, spirited interpretations.
Basic condition for participating is the possibility of regularly taking part at rehearsals and concerts as well as the will to develop. If necessary, the SAP Symphony Orchestra supports this development by enabling personal coaching with instrumental teachers selected by us. Interested wind players are invited to a brief audition, string players don’t pass an audition but initially take part at some rehearsals next to the register leader.
For vacant positions, see vacancies below.

Actual vacancies:
At the moment, we have no vacancies. For special projects in 2018 we may be search for a percussionist (bass drum, snare, cymbals, vibraphone, xylophone, bells, drum set) and for special projects saxophonists (ss, as, ts) as well as drummer. Further vacancies will be published on this web page.
When we rehearse?
We rehearse every Thursday from 19:30 until 22:15. (No rehearsals during BaWü school vacations). 2-3 rehearsal-weekends (saturday and sunday) will take place every year.
Where we rehearse?
Our rehearsals take place Schwetzinger Straße 91 in 69190 Walldorf, on the large stage of the Astoria Halle.
How do we organize our scheduling?
Every musician gets access to our online team plan book. There he can enter for 6 to 12 months in advance at which rehearsal and concert dates he would like to participate.

How can I contact you if I am interested in joining SAP SO?
Interested musicians may contact the orchestra direction via email or via phone
